The Brave Vivandiere

For my last West Coast event, I went out as a vivandiere again. It really is an awesomely fun impression and I'm going to miss it! But I'll definitely pick up my keg again when I come back for visits. :)

Here are some pictures from the event. I decided to wear my hair up this time, and I like the look much better than wearing my hair down (not to mention it was MUCH more comfortable!).

Dear Samantha,

A REALLY good impression!

I'd like to suggest Thomas Cardosa's book Intrepid Women: Cantinières and Vivandières of the French Army. While it does not cover the United States, It does cover the 1800s during the era of Napoleon III that inspired American women to become Cantinieres and Vivandieres.

Respectfully,

I like your impression. I came across this looking at hair styles of the Vivandiere. Seems many had let their hair down yet still parted in the center.
