Hello everyone! Again, sorry things have been so quiet... Newlywed life has been so busy! But I finally got to do some sewing in the form of a hat to wear with my white silk gown on a recent trip to the Mount Vernon Market Fair. It is very similar to the hat that I wore with the gown last time, which matched so perfectly that I knew I needed one of my own.
It's just a straw hat covered with silk taffeta leftover from the gown, and copious amounts of silk gauze. The trim and ties are icy blue silk taffeta.
We had a great time at the Market Fair, too! I came away with beautiful earrings and matching pendant from
Kimberly Walters.
So pretty! I love the look of the white gowns with the color accents of blue and red! You two look like pictures! :-)

ReplyDeleteYum, your ensemble looks like fluffy cake! So very gorgeous. I don't say this often enough to other bloggers...but thank you for taking the time to put your inspiring projects up! I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets jump-started on new projects after seeing others' accomplishments like this!
ReplyDeleteSwoon! That hat is fabulous! I love it :)
ReplyDeleteDear Samantha,
ReplyDeleteAs always, your creations are absolutely gorgeous!
I admire all of your work, especially your Civil War Era dresses! Therefore, I was hoping to ask you a few questions...I have recently been asked to play the part of Sara Robbins (the sister of Union soldier Silas Robbins) at a local history reenactment event. I have always wanted to be a reenactor, and I am so excited for this opportunity! However, I find myself in need of much advice. Besides my monologue, what should I expect at a reenactment - how do I better become my character? Each of the participants are required to supply their own costumes. I've dabbled a bit, but where do I begin to create an accurate "right-looking" costume for my character? My event is on October 18th and your advice would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks,
Anneliese :)
What a pretty hat! I love the ribbon puffs and the color scheme...it looks so light and airy! :).
